| National honor recipients receive the George Washington Honor Medal medallion, while the Essay honor recipients receive the lapel medal and a United States Savings Bond. |

| The George Washington Honor Medal, depicting George Washington in prayer, is a representation of the nine foot tall bronze statue of George Washington located on the campus of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. The statue was created by the world-renowned sculpter, Donald DeLue. |
