2007 National Awards Luncheon

Freedoms Foundation conducts
three awards programs:
Leavey
Awards for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education;
- Established
in 1977, and now permanently endowed by the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey
Foundation of Los Angeles.
- The
program honors instructors who unleash the entrepreneurial skills of their
students at the elementary, junior high school, high school and college
level.
- Up
to 20 cash awards valued at $7,500 each are made annually.
One award of $15,000 may be made for an unusually meritorious entry.
National
Awards
- Awarded
to those who promote, through words or deeds, an understanding of
responsible citizenship and its relationship to a free society.
- Recognize
both the civic achievements of Americans from all walks of life and the
achievements of teachers, administrators of public, private and parochial
schools in developing the interest, intellect and civic literacy of young
students.
- Designed
as an incentive to encourage others to emulate the deeds of recipients from
all across the nation.
Distinguished
Awards
- The
Distinguished Awards Program was generously endowed in 1993 by Dr. Robert B.
Pamplin, Jr. and Mr. Robert B. Pamplin, Sr., who recognized the importance
of honoring outstanding Americans as a way to encourage others.
- Honors
individuals and organizations whose deeds help maintain the principles upon
which our nation was founded and has made significant contributions toward
public understanding of the American way of life under the Constitution,
Bill of Rights and Bll of Responsibilities.
- Recipients
of the Distinguished Awards include Persian Gulf War General H. Norman
Schwarzkopf, football quarterback Steve Young, Supreme Court Justice William
H. Rehnquist, tennis great Arthur Ashe and the Boys and Girls Clubs of
America.
