America's Heroes
A Patriotic Musical
Special Events
For the past two years in the winter, Julia Brasington, a second grade teacher at Bethany Christian School, launches a six week unit on American history.

She says, “As we look at the foundation of our wonderful country, we research heroes such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. We celebrate the incredible wisdom in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We even memorize the Preamble!”

At the conclusion of their study, the class puts on what is now an annual production of America's Heroes for Bethany Christian School's Grandparents Day. Mrs. Brasington wrote this play with “a heart for spreading a patriotic spirit in my second graders.”

“I wanted the children to know the struggle of our country, the passion of its leaders, and the bravery that marks each important historical event. It is so exciting to see the children eagerly anticipate something that truly gives them an understanding of our country's history.”
